Earth’s Mini Moon

Jesse Balderas

On Sunday September 29, a mini moon appeared in the earth’s orbit. This mini moon was spotted by astronomers way back in august.

This mini moon will be in our orbit for only 2 months and it is about the size of a school bus 33 feet long. The name that the astronomers have given this moon is the name 2024 PT5 and they might be more common than expected, they said.

The last time that a space rock around the same size was spotted way back in 2020 they said that there might have been way more, it’s just that they are hard to detect. As they are not visible to the eye, you need highly advanced equipment.

It will circle the globe for around 57 days and this orbit will end on Nov.25 and go on into the depths of the never ending space but it is expected to pass again by 2055.
